Greene County High School will be “hoppin'” Saturday, according to choir director Dave Heupel, as musicians from 12 schools perform solos and ensembles during an Iowa High School Music Association small group contest. Greene County has hosted the contest the past several years; this year’s is larger than in recent years.
Ten judges will evaluate vocal and instrumental performances including stringed instruments and piano.
Greene County large ensembles are scheduled to perform as follows:
- 10:00 – low brass choir
- 10:20 – brass choir
- 12:00 – trumpet choir
- 1:20 – woodwind choir
- 2:22 – madrigal
- 3:10 – sophomore girls chamber choir
- 3:40 – freshman girls chamber choir
- 4:10 – junior/senior girls chamber choir
- 4:40 – mens chamber choir
The public is invited. There is a small admission fee that goes to the IHSMA to cover contest costs.
